Virtually Heroes __TOP__

Heroes that can actually serve very important purposes and need to be kept alive, or simply kept around at all costs. In other words, these heroes cannot be destroyed/killed or something terrible might happen. These characters are similar to Necessary Evil characters, but are obviously opposed to their alignment. These characters are usually created to keep the story relatively three dimensional.

The coronavirus pandemic forced the cancellation of the annual breakfast to honor the heroes. Instead, the American Red Cross of the Southern Tier will honor Real Heroes award recipients through social media, and the public is invited to follow along each day as it honors different area residents, emergency responders and even a very brave cat.

The Women of Valor Program focuses on female caregivers of post-9/11 wounded, ill and injured service members and veterans. We are seeking female volunteers (Team Angels) to support these selfless heroes. Our Team Angels support these women by sending small, meaningful gifts, and cards of encouragement throughout the year to let the caregivers know that they are not alone in their journey. With the challenges that these Women of Valor face on a daily basis, the love and encouragement offered by our Team Angels provides them that little bit of strength and reassurance.
